An award-winning museum packed full of things to prod, sniff, shake and discover, with activities that every member of the family can join in.

Crawl through tunnels, hunt for fossils, explore secret works and invest your savings in Scotland’s famous shale oil industry. Blow oily bubbles, become a sanitary inspector, and explore a microscopic universe.

Meet the friendly animals of Mill Farm; get face to face with chicks, lambs and other new arrivals. Explore the working watermill and enjoy a riverside walk. There’s an indoor adventure playground, soft play area, and during summer months, trailer rides, and trips on the narrow-gauge railway.

There's always something going on at Almond Valley. Life on the farm changes with the seasons, so there are different things to do and see throughout the year. There are also special events throughout 2008 for everyone to enjoy.

Easter Eggcitement
Friday 21st March – Sunday 20th April
Springtime adventures for the Easter holidays with hidden clues, a treasure trail, springtime crafts and games, and the chance to meet the new arrivals on the farm. Our famous plastic duck race takes place on 21st, 22nd, 23rd & 24th of March.

Ooops! Nasty Mishaps down a Shale Mine
Sunday 4th May
A light-hearted afternoon of family fun with some frenetic first aid that will leave the audience in stitches, splints and elevated slings.

Astounding Discoveries
Daily from Saturday 28th June until Sunday 17th August
Drop-in crafts, activities and experiments for children and families, with things to make, games to play, and discoveries to be made.

West Lothian’s Environment Fair
Sunday 7th September
Local groups get together to present a day of activities, games, displays and entertainment exploring the wonders of our natural environment.

Spooky Happenings
Saturday 11th October – Friday 31st October
A little horror for the autumn holidays; enjoy scary crafts, gruesome games, and a spine-chilling trail of terror around the darkest corners of the old farm.

Halloween Night Horror
Friday 31st October 6pm-9pm
Doors re-open after dark for horrible performances, candlelit trails, the ghost train and traditional Halloween games. Come dressed to kill.

Weekends 29th & 30th November, 6th & 7th, 13th & 14th, 20th & 21st plus the 22nd, 23rd and 24th of Dec.
