RECEPTION AND CLASSROOM TALK
The group will be met by their guide and taken into the classroom. They will be given a short talk about their visit, including life cycles, camoflauge etc.

BUTTERFLY FLIGHT AREA
A walk around the flight area with the guide pointing out some of the less easy-to-see creatures, including Butterfly Eggs, Caterpillars and Chrysalides.

REPTILES, BUGS & BEASTIES AND HANDLING
Many creatures to see here, including the Giant Pythons, Tarantulas, glow-in-the-dark Scorpions and the fascinating Leaf-Cutter Ants.

Plus the highlight for many - the "Meet the Beasties" handling session.

A walk through the Nocturnal Zone and Honey Bee area follow, before returning to the classroom to fetch coats and bags.

THE GIFT SHOP
We stock a wide variety of educational books, posters and teaching aids, plus an extensive range of children's souvenirs.

As a guide-line, most schools allow approximately £3.00 per child spending money, or alternatively, pre-prepared Gift Bags are available at £3.00 each and contain a variety of educational and fun items. Details on request.

For sunny days, there are Picnic Tables outside, near the Play Park. If it is raining, we will do our best to accommodate the children while they eat their packed lunch.

For payment, our current group rates are as follows:

WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU ON YOUR VISIT

We hope you have a pleasant and enjoyable time.

Alternatively, bring the Butterfly World to your school with our Outreach programme, an action-packed roadshow using live animals and interactive resources to ‘edutain’ schoolchildren about the animal lifecycle. Outreach is available either as an hourly, half day or full day package so the whole school can get involved.

Please call 0131 663 4932 or email info@edinburgh-butterfly-world.co.uk for further information or to arrange a pre-visit.
