The Water of Leith Visitor Centre is home to a FREE fantastic interactive exhibition on the rivers heritage and wildlife. See the life of the river in the video well. Control the ebb and flow of the water, cause a flood and try to stop the giant waterwheel. The sights and sounds of the riverbank are revealed on our unique 'call of the wild' wall. In addition the Centre hosts information about the river and our work to protect it, a gift shop and café.
OPENING TIMES;

CLOSED XMAS AND NEW YEAR FROM 24ST DECEMEBER TO EARLY JANUARY
The exhibtion is FREE.
The Water of Leith Walkway follows the course of the river, covering the 12 miles from Balerno though our capital to Leith. Recently completed thanks to funding from the Millennium Commission, CEC and SEEL this is a unique way to explore Edinburgh on foot. Walkway Maps and guides are available from the Visitor Centre. We are located halfway along the walkway at Slateford, 5 miles west of the city centre on Lanark Road.
The Centre is run by the Water of Leith Conservation Trust a small charity aiming to conserve and enhance the river as a haven for wildlife and a educational and recreational resource for all. Support our work by becoming a member or joining our active volunteer team. As guardians of the river we work to raise the profile of this key environmental asset, and promote community action to help the river. Regular clean ups and habitat creation projects improve the health of the river valley. Our education and group visits programme, regular talks, walks and events mean everyone has the opportunity to discover more about Edinburgh hidden natural asset.
