Royal Observatory Visitor Centre
Directions
The Royal Observatory Visitor Centre is situated on Blackford Hill just south of Edinburgh's City Centre. We are sign-posted from the Cameron Toll roundabout, Mayfield Road and Blackford Avenue.
The Royal Observatory Visitor Centre is a hands-on science centre. Our permanent galleries include the 36" Telescope Dome, the Computer Gallery and our West Tower (Schmidt Telescope).

The Observatory's Visitor Centre is no longer be open to casual visitors on a daily basis. We are now placing greater emphasis on our work to support science education in Scotland. We will also continue to run our more popular events and activities.

Our new programme includes:

Winter programme of evening talks and public observing, October to March. These activities are open to all.
Group visits to the Observatory by schools and other organisations.
Outreach visits by our mobile Starlab planetarium to schools and other venues.
Annual Open Days.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training events for science teachers.
